How
to apply vinyl
You will need:
• Paper
or cloth towel to clean
• A cleaning agent like windex
• Masking tape
• Tape measure or ruler
• Leveler (optional)
• Scissors
• Squeegie
• Exacto knife or sharp pointed object to get out air bubbles
(optional)
How to install:
For best adhesion,
install the vinyl when it is between 50-90 degrees F and not wet.
Start by cleaning your surface with water and a paper towel. Then
tape the top corners of your vinyl to the surface with masking tape.
Measure with a ruler, tape measure, and/or leveler until you have
it where you want it. Tape your vinyl to the surface in the middle
from about 2 inches above the vinyl to about 2 inches below to hold
it in place. Pull back the left side and peel the backing off of
the mask and vinyl to reveal the sticky back. Use your scissors
to cut the paper backing off of the side you peeled. Using your
squeegie, start from the middle of the vinyl and squeegie up, start
from the middle and squeegie down. Continue doing this until you
reach the end of the left side. Remove the middle piece of tape
and peel off the backing on the right side. Use the squeegie technique
above to complete the application. Once the vinyl is sticking to
the surface, peel off the mask slowly. If the vinyl come up with
the mask, squeegie it back down and try again. If there are any
air bubbles, use the exacto blade to poke them and smooth it out.
Admire your great job!
